Good Inflammation, Bad Inflammation and Joint Pain
The result of inflammation in your body can be pain, swelling, bruising, or redness. This sounds like inflammation would always be “bad” but that is not the case.
There are two types of inflammation – “acute inflammation” (aka good inflammation) and “chronic inflammation” (aka bad inflammation). Acute inflammation is when your body responds to sudden damage. When you have an injury you body sends inflammatory cells to the injury to start the healing process. However chronic inflammation occurs over a long period of time, i.e. the healing process is extended or never ends. Bad, chronic inflammation is associated with disorders such as arthritis, asthma, atherosclerosis, cancer, diabetes, and so on.
